The music of Colin Aguiar is empathetically crafted to fit the personality of each director and intimately tailored to the heart of each film.
A lifelong musician who began performing publicly at the age of two and composing by ten, he evolved into a stylized composer contributing to films that gained entry into prestigious film festivals around the world. From a quartet of whistlers to Himalayan Nepali music, he carries a dual specialization - the first, in unique scores, and the second, in world music & ethnomusicology.
He grew up living across parts of India, the Middle East, Europe and North America, studying the music of various cultures before writing music for musicals, theatre and film. Proving the impact of his music, his work has won jury awards the world over in Los Angeles, New York, London, Italy, Barcelona, Venezuela, Calcutta, Nairobi and on almost every continent. He is the protégé of Oscar-winning composer, Mychael Danna.
Based in Los Angeles, California.
Qualifies as BIPOC diversity hire, and for Ontario Provincial and Federal Canadian Tax Credits.
ABOUT
23 AWARDS FOR BEST MUSIC
A jury award is special. A group of individuals do a lengthy critical review of a score. Then they gage it against other works in competition. Sometimes they defend their selections to other jours, and then, it gets ranked. It’s an honor to have survived the scrutiny of 23 esteemed juries in 5 continents and 8 countries.
At these festivals there are no PR campaigns or any way for a composer to sell to a jury
except through their score.
So in an industry that requires no credentials, and in a world where music is a mystery to many, these awards take on a special meaning.
They help translate mystery into a…
